Google Workspace for Education is a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom and more.
Students use their Google Workspace for Education accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, sign into Chromebooks, and learn 21st century digital citizenship skills. Additionally any student-owned computing device (PC, tablet, smartphone) can also access student email and documents. All stored work is accessible from home, school, and anywhere there is an Internet connection.
As of 2023, it's estimated that over 60% of U.S. school districts are using an edition of Google Workspace for Education. Some versions are free, others have an annual cost. We (Fremont #1) use the Education Plus version for its more advanced security and collaboration tools.

Students in grades K-1 may have a "Clever code" to sign in. This is a special card printed with a QR code that, when held up to a Chromebook camera, signs in the student. As students enter the Second Grade, they begin entering their username and password on the keyboard.
If a parent or guardian wishes to obtain their student's credentials, assuming the student is under 18 years of age, they may make the request at the school's main office. To ensure that access is only received by custodial parents or guardians, Technology Office staff cannot release this information directly. Credentials for students 18 and over are released only with the permission of the student.
